Is Premarital sex against the law? If so, is it a law that is on the books that is just not inforced?

Sexual intercourse between consenting adults who are unmarried is not a crime in most states, although some states which have not caught up with the current trends in the law may still have prohibitions against such activities under laws designed to prevent 'illegal cohabitation.'
