Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Illinois
Right to be read
Can a newspaper refuse to accept an item that is offered with the understanding it will be paid for when it contains no offensive lauguage or advocates wrong doing? Of course I'm speaking of one operated for profit and engaged in Interstate Commerce, distributed through the mail etc. My shunnig is due to only speaking out about violations of States Rights which are so prevelant in this area.

Generally speaking a newspaper sets its editorial policy and the rules for what copy it will publish according to the political leanings of the publisher. You have no automatic right to publication in such a newspaper, and if it determines your copy is not in keeping with its policies or political bent it may refuse to publish whether or not payment is offered.
You have the right to free speech, but not in another's publications.
