Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Illinois
The right to seek files about me from the 70's
My Mother has papers that concern my treatment for attention deficit disorder and hyper-activity from the 70's. I wish to obtain this file. Do I have the legal right to demand this? It includes therapies, and drugs that that were used to treat it that I beleive might be banned now.

She obtained those most likely while you were a minor so I don't think there is any law protecting you per se. However, you have a right to those records from the doctors themselves.

Why don't you contact the medical providers yourself. They'll give you the papers for a small fee. Bill Stern

Your mother has a right to request copies of the records from the doctors or hospital prescribing the medication.
