Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Illinois

I work for a conveinent store as manager, I have another business owner coming in and offering more money to my best people and taking them away from me, he also comes into my store just to irritate me, he is spreading lieing around our town about me that are not true, has called my boss and said things that are not true and have been getting into trouble with my boss, is there anything that I can do, such as sue for harrassment, slander or anything

You sound like a loyal employee, but that's the situation: you are just an employee too. That is unless you are the one setting the salaries for the other employees in the store. Either way you need to talk to the owner of your store because it's ultimately the owner's business, not yours. Unless you are perhaps the franchisee? Assuming you are not a franchisee, your store's owner has to decide what to do. As to the lieing about you personally, you may have a case for slander if you are being harmed economically or being humiliated in your job in particular. That's something you could see an attorney about on your own. But you need to have an open line of communication with your boss and maybe have your boss observe this behavior. Sounds more like this other owner is trying to wind up with this store to increase his territory.....
