Legal Question in Technology Law in Illinois

I develop web applications for our different stores in locations across the United States. To differentiate one website from another, I placed a state flag on the Home page of each. Otherwise, they all are the same. Now my boss made me take them off to avoid legal issues. Is it illegal to post a state flag for such purposes?

No. There is nothing illegal about doing what you describe.
