Legal Question in Technology Law in Illinois
Is it illegal to scam someone one on internet or have a scam website to scam people and profit from in the the state of illinois.
What action can be taken against the owners of the scam website?

Yes. Problem is, most scam sites are not in the US let alone IL, so they are outside the reach of US law, and they make sure to have no assets in the US which would be subject to seizure or attachment. So, you get a right without a remedy. Now if the scammer is in in IL, and you are in IL you might have a case worth pursuing, but I am guessing the scammer is in Nigeria or some other equally notorious scammers' haven.
