Legal Question in Technology Law in Illinois

Photographic release of images

I'm a free lance photographer. I take photos of sporting events at the amatuer level..age 8 up to high school age games, soccer, baseball etc.

I take digital images of these kids playing sports on local park district fields and parks. I wish to offer for sale these action images of the kids to the parents of these kids. Do I need to have permission first? Or can I take the images and let the parents know that they can go to a specific site to review and select the images they wish for a small price. What legal issues do I need to deal with. Part Two: What if one parent agrees to make a purchase and in the background there are other people in the shot.....Do they need to give me permission also?

I would never be using the childrens names in the images...

I would simply supply the web link for each parent and the date and game their child was attendng and participatiing in..guidence please. Thank you

Re: Photographic release of images

Public places and events available to everyone: you should have no problem.

If possible, get permission in the form of a "model release", and I would exercize extreme care if the use is anything other than sale to the subjects of the photos or their families.

{I.E. no sale to General Mills for a Wheaties Box.)
