Legal Question in Technology Law in Illinois

Recording a conversation

In terms of investigative reporting, can I record a conversation via a voice recorder with out telling the person that I am talking with, that I am recording our current conversation? This would most likely not happen over the phone. If possible, could you provide a reference in a book that would be found in a local library?

Thanks ALOT!!

Re: Recording a conversation

The Illinois Eavesdropping Act prohibits the eavesdropping or recording of a conversation without the consent of all parties. It is not limited to "interception" such as on a telephone.
