Is there a law that requires individuals to carry identification with them at all times?

Hello. To my knowledge, in Illinois, there is

not a law requiring a U.S. citizen to carry iden-

tification at all times. This is the case even

after 9/11. However, with regard to a related

topic where a person is stopped by a police

officer, there is law that requires citizens

to provide the officer with their name and

address. But for this very slight change in the

law, we as citizens still have the right to

remain silent as to further questions a police

officer may ask us. I will be happy to answer
