Legal Question in Constitutional Law in Illinois

Intrusive drug testing

I work for a small meat distributor as a secretary for a year and a half. There has been ''hush-hush'' talk that there will be a random drug screening because of some plant workers, but it hasn't been confirmed. Can I legally be subjected to such a invasion of privacy? I am an office worker who does not come into contact with any dangerous equipment and do not hold a ''sensitive'' position. My job performance is still up to par, no tardies, etc. I obtained 2 raises, proving that my job performance has not suffered. There is no reason for the employer to believe I have used drugs while at the workplace. Is this legal?

Re: Intrusive drug testing

Because there is no state (governmental) involvement, this raises no constitutional issues. Unless prohibited by state law (doubtful, but I'm not an IL lawyer) or a contractual provision barring it (doubtful unless you have a union contract), it is going to be legal.
