Ward Secede from City?

Many residents of Evanston, IL's 3rd Ward would like to secede from the City of Evanston. I am one of the leaders in this effort. We have numerous reasons why we would like to secede from the city. The alderman has asked us to ask an attorney about the ward's legal rights to secede from the City of Evanston. We would still like to belong to Evanston Township but that is a different matter.

This is not a Constitutional issue, but rather a Municipal Issue. You should contact an attorney who practices in the area of Municipal Law. Good luck finding the answers.
