Contract Cancellation

I signed a contract for a building to be built on my property with a tentative date of early October (today is January 4th). To date I have not received a reponse after attempts to contact the builder to even get an estimated delivery date. I need to cordinate with an excavating service to make way for the contruction however, he also needs delivery date so he can work it into his work-load. Can I get out of this contract and hire another builder?
