Legal Question in Construction Law in Illinois

I had a contractor replace the siding, soffits, fascia, and a couple windows back in September. The balance of the job was paid in full with my credit card at the same time. A week or two later I contacted the contractor with several issues. After a few months with no response, I finally threatened to dispute the CC charge. After another month without a response, I gave one last warning and then two weeks later, I disputed a portion of the CC charge. The contractor finally contacted me, but they also convinced my CC company to reverse the dispute. I have since convinced the CC company to issue my credit again and now the contractor has threatened me with a lien against my property. I do have several emails supporting my claims and I have gotten the contractor to admit that things need to be fixed/and damage reimbursed. My question is, can they legitimately put a lien on my house? If it matters, I live in IL. Thanks. Mike

It sounds like it is too late to place a lien on your property. If he does, a lien is only good for two years, so he either has to file a foreclosure or the lien will fall.
