Legal Question in Construction Law in Illinois

A Fire protection subcontractor was hired to install fire protection piping and provide 100% payment & performance bond. They discovered that they omitted $125k of work and existing plumbing was installed by a plumber and air ducts were installed by the HVAC sub; which will cause the Fire Protection sub to install around the existing work; this will cost the other subcontractor another $75K to install its piping around the existing plumbing and HVAC work.

There is no question, maybe you accidentally clicked on submit. This is too complex an issue for this forum. If there was no general contractor, or owner's rep, hired to coordinate the work, this is a snake pit of issues. It may be worthwhile to have a meeting of all the relevant players, with your counsel, and some kind of person brought in to try to unravel the situation. Worst comes to worst, all the contractors may be in default, can be terminated and a general contractor hired to straighten everything out, but then you're left suing the old trades for any excess costs incurred. You need to sit with counsel, the various contracts, have the work reviewed, and go from there.
