Legal Question in Construction Law in Illinois
mechanic lein
How long do I have to file a lein? The last piece of merchandise was delivered to the jobsite about 90 days ago. We actually finished our installation work in April of 2006. The general contractor has not paid us because the owner (so they say) has not paid them. I kept getting told that we should be getting paid shortly by the general contractor and it never materialized. We are waiting to be paid for April's pay application.

Re: mechanic lein
Hello. I suggests that you file a lien now. You also may want to file a lawsuit. Why should you have to wait?
You did not agree to do this for free, I am sure. Take immediate action to preserve your claim to the money. Will be happy to discuss this further and in more detail.
