How long must a lein be in place before one can force the sale of the property?

Immediately upon filing the claim of lien with the recorder of deeds, the lien claimant may file a complaint in the appropriate circuit court to enforce the lien and order a sale of the property. The judge presiding over the complaint will determine how long the proceedings will take, and when, if at all, to order a sale. If such the complaint is not filed within 2 years of the last work performed by the lien claimant, the lien claim will expire, and the propery will never be sold to satisfy the expired lien claim.
