Legal Question in Construction Law in Illinois
i had a new roof put on my house and the sales person who sold me the roof got fired the company stills owes him money. I am still in the process of getting my roof completed. Can the sales person put a lean on my home until he gets his money from his old company
1 Answer from Attorneys
Generally not. Employees do not have mechanic's lien rights. And even if he was a "subcontractor" the Illinois mechanic's lien is only for people who render labor or services of some kind (construction, management, surveyor), not simply sales. And the word is "lien".
