Legal Question in Construction Law in Illinois
signed a proposal
I signed a contractor's proposal 3 months ago but did not date it, nor did I send in the deposit for the work to be done.
Now I don't want to use him as he has an unsatisfactory BBB rating. Am I legally obligated to carry this out? (The form does not state that it's a contract; it begins with ''we propose...''
Thank you.

Re: signed a proposal
Hello. My answer is no. In my opinion you have no obligations under this offer that you made. It never
materialized into a contract because there was no consideration, among other things, since you did not deposit money for the work. However, I would watch the situation carefully
just in case the other side decides
to file a frivolous lawsuit. Will be happy to discuss this with you further and in more detail.
