Legal Question in Consumer Law in Illinois
Ad on craigs list said 2006 suzuki dirtbike. drove to chicago IL to look at it. They said they did not have title as it was purchased in WI. We asked and received a bill of sale so we could title it ourselves. The bill of Sale does state As Is. and we signed it. Two days later when we wrote down the serial number to title it, we discovered the bike is a 2001. They said they bought it as a 2006 and they did not know it was a 2001. They will not take the bike back.

If the bill of sale they provided you states that the bike is a 2006, it was advertised as a 2006 and it turned out to be a 2001, you should be entitled to a full refund or the difference in value between a 2006 and a 2001. You might threaten to sue if they don't either take the bike back and refund your money in full or give you a refund for the difference in value between an 06' and an 01'.
