Legal Question in Consumer Law in Illinois
Attorney refuses to act
Sears Home Improvement took 5 months to complete a re-modeling job that was contracted to be completed in 4 days. No required permits were obtained; licensed plumbers and electricians were not used. City officials were notified; they suggested that an attorney be retained. Job was finally redone properly after failing city inspections 3 times.
Attorney states ther is no recourse. Not only must I paythe original $5500 price, but I must also pay him $2500. So a contract that was not heeded is going to cost me an additional $2500.
Is the attorney correct? To whom do I address a complaint about his conduct?
Aren't their laws against consumer fraud ?

Re: Attorney refuses to act
Hello. I suggests that you
contact the consumer division
of the Office of the Attorney
General for the State of
Illinois. Also, if your
particular municipality has
a consumer complaint division,
I suggests that you contact
it as well!
