Legal Question in Consumer Law in Illinois
cancelling an agreement by the vendor
I registered for a user conference and paid immediately; the conference is 10/12, I registered 7/11. Received a confirmation from the vendor I was accepted. Bought a non-refundable airline ticket.
Received a cancellation notice from vendor 9/17 stating space problems. I emailed and called to find out what they were going to do about reimbursing me for my airline ticket since they cancelled on me. They said I was cancelled because I was a contractor. There is nothing on their website or registration form stating contractors are not allowed. I pointed this out and asked them to either let me come to the conference or reimburse my ticket cost. They told me they were not responsible for tickets. I told them that would be true had I cancelled.
What, if any, legal action can I take to get reimbursement for my ticket cost and my time spent trying to get this resolved?
