Legal Question in Consumer Law in Illinois
car dealer fraud
I bought a new van, and financed through the dealership. When the financing company billed me, the payment was too high. I called and they told me the amount financed was a different amount than our contract says. They told me to contact the dealer. I had them fax a copy of the paperwork from the finance company, and the numbers were all different from the original contract I had signed. The signatures are even different. I don't know how to prove it but I believe they forged the signature on a new contract before submitting it to the finance company. Also, I realized some small features were not on the van that were supposed to be there. They said they did not have the window sticker when I purchased it- which obviously was intentional because the model is different from what they claimed it was when I bought it. I can't find a lawyer in my area that works with this type of case, but I need help as soon as possible. What can I do? Thanks.

This may be something in which your local state's attorney might have an interest. If not you might try the Illinois Attorney General's office.
