Legal Question in Consumer Law in Illinois
New Car Problems
My family just got a new car, the next day we find things are wrong. We took it back to the dealership after having it for less than a week to get problems fixed and putting an alarm in. They told us to come pick it up and said the car was being washed. We picked up the car and when we get home we notice that there were scratches all over our brand new car, it looked liked it had been put through the mud and had been driven because it came back with more miles on it. There are a few dents and a lot of scratches on the car, they are going to fix it but is there more we can do. Its a new Mitsubishi Evil, going to be a car that would not be used often because it was to be a show car. We wanted to sell it later for hopefully a profit due to the type of car and what we planned to do with it. The parts need to be removed and painted, it will now look like it had been in an accident. People are good at noticing things like this bringing down the car value. Is there anything that we can do? Is there anyway they would have to give us a new car due to the incompetence of workers? If there is nothing I could do, would I be able to take it to a person I trust to fix it and make them pay for it. I needed to know my rights and what to do.

Re: New Car Problems
Depending on more facts, there is a question about whether the car is actually new. I might want to contact the Consumer Division of the Illinois Attorney General to see if there is some kind of history with this dealership.
