Legal Question in Consumer Law in Illinois
car title
I bought a car from a buy here pay here company and make weekly payments on my car. Today I received, from the Secretary of State, the title to the car I am making payments on. Must I continue to make payments or did the car company screw up and basically give me the car?

Re: car title
Well if the title lists you as the owner and there is no lien holder listed on it then it would appear the seller screwed up. This of course does not mean that you are entitled to stop paying on the car. There is a strong possibility that the seller is going to find out about this and demand payment or the return of the vehicle. If you refuse then the seller would have to file suit against you to get the car back and or the money due on the contract.
