Legal Question in Consumer Law in Illinois
consumer law/criminal
We bought a new computer.on credit, from a local store. Less than 3 months later the hard drive went out.The store owner took it to a friend of his who is a technician at another local store. It took close to 2 months to fix. Then instead of returning ours he gave us a totally different model that had most of the memory used up and all generic insides. He then traded ours to the friend and used the credit from it to purchase an item for himself. When I confronted him with my findings he denied it thretening to have me removed from his store. We demanded our computer returned but it had been sold by his friend. We then stopped making payments. They constantly make threats of legal recourse.I told them I was taking my own legal action. Now he has politely offered us another computer like the one we had. This all began last Feb.He made this offer today after I told his secretary he was facing criminal charges.I refused his offer and said I will take it to court.3 weeks ago he rudely told me to take my complaints to his lawyer. Now he insists there is no need to do that. What should I do and how?

He probably talked to his attorney who told him he did a very bad thing. If what he is offering is what you would seek in court, why would you want to go through the expense, time, stress, and effort of a trial?
