Legal Question in Consumer Law in Illinois
credit card
my mother co sign for a credit card 18 yrs ago,,,it is maxed out @ 25k, my nephew who uses card refuses to trnsfer balance without her name on it...she only lives on her SS and has no abiltiy to repay...options for her, we are call b of a tomorrow to see if they will remove her since she never once charged on it

Creditors are not typically willing to remove a co-signer. They get co-signers for a reason, and that is so they have recourse when the other borrower isn't paying. Your mother may want to consider filing for bankruptcy if she cannot afford to help pay that bill and the nephew isn't paying for it.
