Legal Question in Consumer Law in Illinois
credit card sales
Illinois
I was buying a car on Monday. We negotiated the price and the dealership was still a little high in our opinion. We were planning on paying cash so we decided to put the purchase on our credit card to at least get the miles. Once we told the salesman that, he said that we could write a check, put a max of $2000 on our credit card or finance the deal. He stated that because of the fees the credit cards charge they would refuse the sale if we were to insist upon using a credit card for the purchase. At that point, we had already signed the contracts. Is that accurate? Can a business refuse a sale because a patron is using a credit card for the purchase?

Re: credit card sales
Depends on what the contract says. No reason why they shouldn't accept it.
