Legal Question in Consumer Law in Illinois

Is the dealer trying to run out my warranty

I purchased a new 2004 fully loaded vehicle in April it has all the options available thru the manuf. except a remote start, the dealership assured me they could install this add. option for me. When I made the agreeement to have it installed I was told the dealership would be installing it, this is sold by a sales person who only sells options for vehicles, the salesperson assured me that it would not interfer with the computer system in the vehicle. After the system was installed the next morning the vehicle registerd security system failure I called the dealership and spoke with the service manager who told me that should never have been installed in the car it is a after market part put on by an outsource through the dealership and it does affect the computer system. The dealership removed the remote start and did not charge me for the install or removal. Since then (2 months) the car has been back for a blow fuse and both the car horn & security horn were defective now the car is back in again for ''charging system failure''. I have been told buy numerous people the only option to repair is to have the harness and computer system replaced for it to work properly. The warranty is due to expire in 3 months. What can I do?

Re: Is the dealer trying to run out my warranty

Seeing that it was the dealership who sold you the item in the first place then the dealership should repair the vehicle to its original condition at the time you purchased the vehicle. Short of getting an attorney to call the dealership on your behalf you need to "corner" the service manager and demand that the car be repaired to your satisfaction.

There are other options such as calling the IL consumer complaint department and the BBB.
