Legal Question in Consumer Law in Illinois
Delivery person stole my checks
I had a washer & dryer delivered from a national appliance store. One of the delivery guys stole and forged a couple checks. They caught the guy, and he will go to trial in the next month or so. He turned out to be a two time convicted felon with residential burglary convictions. I talked to the store manager, and he basically said too bad, that they contract their deliveries out to a third party, and they are responsible for nothing. Do they have any obligation in this matter?

Re: Delivery person stole my checks
Did the delivery person work for a company that the store contracted to? That may be where you should look. In any event, I would recommend consulting with an attorney about what your best options are.
