Legal Question in Consumer Law in Illinois
Document Preparation
Who can prepare documents in Illinois? Specifically, do you have to be an attorney to prepare documents for a closing, and do you have to be an attorney to prepare your own motions? Where can I find this answer? Thank you in advance.

Re: Document Preparation
You can prepare your own documents for any purpose. You cannot prepare certain legal documents (closing documents and motions are such documents) for anyone else unless you are an Illinois licensed attorney. It is of course important that you know what you are doing. You can also take out your own appendix, which can sometimes have a similar result to preparing your own legal documents.
