Legal Question in Consumer Law in Illinois

I had some engine repair work on my suv from a local garage. It started leaking again and was brought back to them. They said the leaking was not from their work but from other areas that I needed to have fixed, including my rack and pinion steering. I took it across the street to Firestone and they confirmed that the leaking was from the area the garage worked on and that none of the other things were needed. With the exception of very small transmission leak which was of no immediate worry. I had Firestone proceed with the repair because I did not want the other garage to cause more damage or cause me to spend more money. What are my options in trying to recover the cost of their repair?

Depending on the dollar amount of the repairs, Small Claims may be the appropriate forum.

Ask them nicely, and when that fails, sue them.
