Legal Question in Consumer Law in Illinois

fire works

recently i was charged for having fireworks. I am from minnesota and didn't know they were illegal in illinois. i received a ticket in the amount of $75 and on the ticket it stated no need to appear in cournt unless ticket is unpaid in 15 days. I have proof that my check was cashed in 11. I got a court date anyway and when i appeared in court i was told that it was a hearing and my court date was later. The judge said that i could get up to 30-60 days in jail and a 2000 fine. What should i do about this? How likely do you think it would be that i would get the maximum sentence? Also the judge said the fire works i had were class B but they don't sell class B without a license in Wisconsin. They were considered C in Wisconsin.

It is my understanding that possession of fireworks is a Class A misdemeanor which means a possible imprisonment of 0-12 months and a fine up to $2,500. Depending on you were charged with and the number of fireworks involved, it is unlikely that you will face any jail time if this is a first-time offense; you are most likely facing a fine of some sort.
