Legal Question in Consumer Law in Illinois

I hired a pool service to do some work around the concrete near my pool. They did a very shoddy job, which I will eventually have to get repaired. They also stained the liner to my pool because the concrete was allowed to fall into the pool as they were cutting it.

I called them several times to fix the work and at first they didn't come back. After a year had passed they started sending me invoices with finance charges for late payment. I contacted them again to ask them to fix and finish what they started and we arranged a day for them to come out. I took the day off work and they never showed and didn't return my phone calls. They showed the next day while I was at work and fixed some of the problem, then emailed me back to say the problem never existed. But, I took pictures, so I emailed them a copy. Then they didn't contact me for almost 6 months.

I had not been trying to contact them because I think they are idiots and they will never get the project done correctly. I guess I have been trying to ignore them hoping they will go away. This week I received a new invoice with new finance charges for the past year. What can I do in this situation? I really don't wnat them out here again and I don't want to pay them for their bad, careless work.

I'm sorry about your situation.

What I can do for you is to write a demand letter for breach of contract and send it to the pool place.

Once an attorney gets involved the pool company will take you much more seriously.

I will write and respond to the letter for you for a one time nonrefundable, flat fee of $300.

I do this all the time and see small business owners and homeowners get the fair settlement they deserve.

I would get an estimate to see how much it is to fix the repairs for the damage done by the pool company.

I assume as far as the pool services work, that you consider the project ongoing becasue they did not do what they were supposed to do and any payment by you is contingent upon their finishing the work in a proper manner.
