Legal Question in Consumer Law in Illinois
Home renovation loan
The contractor received an upfront payment of $13,200. I fired him because of the poor job he was doing. He refuses to produce any documentation of the work that he has done or to produce any receipt for material and labor or to refund me the monies that was used.

Re: Home renovation loan
You can sue for the money. But more importantly, if there is no written contract, you may be able to seek relief under the Home Repair and Remodeling Act. The Act does not specifically provide for a remedy, but makes the rules much harder for contractors who do not use written contracts and follow a set of requirements.
