Legal Question in Consumer Law in Illinois
While married, my step daughter was on my company's medical insurance plan. Her aunt took her to the hospital and presented them with my company' insurance card and she also signed her name on the consent form indicating if the insurance company did not pay the bill she would be responsible. Am I responsible for the bill if the insurnace company does not pay it?
1 Answer from Attorneys
Are you still her legal guardian? Are you required by any divorce decree to continue carrying her insurance? You say she "was" on the plan; was she removed and why? Were the medical services necessary? Yes you may be responsible. More information is needed.
