Legal Question in Consumer Law in Illinois
We moved into a place where the the electricity was already on. It recently got turned off and we started our own service. Now we are being billed from April and another misc past due amount that doesn't show in the billing details. Do we have to pay that mics amount. How far back can the utility company charge us on a new account when we haven't had one with them before?

The utility company should not be able to charge you for someone else's usage. They should also be able to give you information on the "miscellaneous" amount.
