Legal Question in Consumer Law in Illinois
My question is on College tuition paid/student loans still owed- I'm looking for some legal advice on this basic idea:
I went to a small private college and have over $30,000 in student loan debt. I earned a degree in Education and have been working as a middle school teacher for the past 5 years, 3 months. While my degree did gain me the job I now have- It seems to me that the price of the education I received doesn't match the job and pay that I am earning with that degree. There isn't any "special perks" for attending the school I did- Like job placement. A degree from this school hasn't created job opportunities, no employers are "impressed" with the school- They don't care- just that I have a degree. I'm asking- What am I paying extra for? What did I gain for the $20,000 extra I spend going to this school as apposed to a state school? Nothing.
Why would a school offer such a degree when knowing that degree would not provide a job paying enough to cover education costs?
And now my former college has dropped some forms of it's education degree. Is there ANY legal argument to fight this? I like my job- but I'm drowning in student loan debt. Should I be punished for my choice of college and profession?
Please help.

If I understand this correctly, you selected the school and the field of study, and now you feel you overpaid for your education because you are not making more money. Were there any guarantees regarding future salary levels given to you when you enrolled? Did you do any research regarding future salary levels for students from this school versus a state school?
