Legal Question in Consumer Law in Illinois
hi i have just received a car from my ex tenant he's given me keys so far and we are in good terms. the only problem is that i need that car off my property so i can rerent the house and he's having problems location title but does have registration. he doesnt want it, id do but i dont want to hvea to do any crazy trips along iwth him to apply for lost title just so he can then sign it over to me (the money deff a factor) plus then ill have to apply myself to get new tittle and reg (more money=bad factor) since i'm mostly interested in just selling it to someone fast inexpensive. I had one idea that you mite be able to have better judgement on, what if we make a bill of sale and release of all ownership from him(old tenant) to new owner and just have that notarized, will they or me be able to get a title w/out involving my old tenant too much into this

Why don't you and he go to the Secretary of State's nearest driver services facility together and straighten it out there. If he's lying and doesn't have title or it is being held by a finance company, you can find out, and if it's a lost title he has to apply for it anyhow. And before you do any of that see if he'll sign a short agreement as to what the deal is all about, IF he can deliver good title......
