Legal Question in Consumer Law in Illinois
Refund not given back in timely fashion
The hotel I have been staying at for 6 months now accidentally charged me two $150 cancellation fees even though I cancelled one week in advance. They admitted this was a mistake on their part. They refunded me only one of those and the other one is yet to be refunded. I have spoke to them many times and they keep saying it will be done. Its been over two months now. How can they keep my money for so long?

If you paid by credit card, consider looking into a chargeback.
Some travel magazines offer an ombudsman service - you might look into that.
Otherwise, if all else fails, depending on where the you are located vis-a-vis the hotel, you might sue them in small claims court.
Unfortunately, the amount is too small to interest any lawyer.
