Legal Question in Consumer Law in Illinois
If I refuse to let my car be repossesed can I go to jail?
I have been paying on my car for 4 yrs. and have recently fallen behind on my payments, the finance company wants to reposses my car and their agent has said if I refuse to return the car I will go to jail but, I plan on catching up the payment within the next 2 weeks, can I go to jail if I refuse to give back the car immediately?

Hell no. There is no "debtors' prison" in this country. The finance company's agent SHOULD go to jail for saying things like that, and at the very least should be quite ashamed of himself.
