Legal Question in Consumer Law in Illinois

what are my rights if I signed a contract for a service that I used only once?

Dear sirs,

I have signed a contract for a martial arts/healthclub service that I purchased about 8 months ago. I paid the 100.00 deposit fee and attended the first class. After the initial class, I decided that I could not continue because I could not physically endure the training due to my weak stamina. I had informed the owner and he said that I cannot cancel anymore because I had already passed the cancellation period. He then sold my contract to a collection agency which now owned the contract. My question is that, am I still obligated to pay the monthly fees or any money to the collection service eventhough I only attended one class and have no plans of continuing the service?

I would appreciate any legal advice or information that you can give me.

Thanks,

It depends on what your written agreement stated, and whether its terms were reasonable. I would suggest having an attorney review the agreement.
