Legal Question in Consumer Law in Illinois
New ruby for wedding ring
Our .75 carat ruby broke. Our insurance company paid $950.00 to replace it. We went to our long time jewler and he said he would hunt for a ruby. Later he let us know he found a wonderful ruby(1.87 carat). He told us the $950 was not enough for this stone. We gave him one appraised diamond ($2000), one gold ring (?), $300 check and the insurance money. We go to have the ruby appraised a month later for the home owners insurance and find it is only worth $700. It is a partially man made stone. What can we do know? Small claims court?

Re: New ruby for wedding ring
First I would suggest confronting your jeweler with this information. If that fails in getting you a favorable result, you will probably need to sue him.
