Legal Question in Consumer Law in Illinois
I signed into a health club membership in 2005. Just afterward, I injured my shoulder and had to cancell the membership. They did not let me out of the contract, but added on an additional 6 months for free to cover the time I missed due to surgery and therapy. The last time I went to the club was Nov. 2006. It was my understanding that the contract would be cancelled after that six months. I recently noticed that on my credit card they have been automatically charging me every month since then! I did not see this earlier because my husband pays the bill and we are paying off the card and not using it and he was so used to seeing the charge on there he never thought to ask me about it. I have now paid out almost $1550 on a membership I have not used in almost 4 years. Do I have any recourse to get this back?

That is quite a bill.
You will want to contact an attorney to write a "demand letter" on your behalf asking for an accounting of what you signed and a refund of the monies owed to you.
