Can I sue a company that sold me a product without telling me that I needed to purchase another product for it to work? It also cannot be used in my state of residence.

Your question is a bit light on facts for me to be able to give you an answer. For example, if you bought a car, you would not have much of a case if you tried to argue that they did not tell you that you needed to purchase gasoline to make it work. However, you probably would have a case if it did not include an engine. And, not really sure what you mean when you say that is cannot be used in your state. If it is illegal in your state, there is a pretty good argument that you should have been aware of that before your purchase.
