Legal Question in Consumer Law in Illinois

Trouble with an airline

Upon boarding a recent flight, my

bag was collected because there was

no room for it in the tiny

compartments.

No mention was made of how I could

collect it after the flight. Since I'd

just taken a flight with the same

carrier not two weeks before, in

which a similar event occurred and

my bag was transported to baggage

claim, I thought nothing of it.

At no time had anyone made me

aware of the fact that this time I was

expected to claim my carry on at the

gate.

Long story short, my bag went

missing and no one was willing to

inconvenience themselves to help

me find it. Ultimately, it was

delivered to me, but the most

important item - my camera - was

gone. I'd only the new current

''choice'' between taking a carry-on

or paying a fee to check it, which I

wouldn't have anyway, because my

camera was in that case.

In summary:

The airline gives no choice but to

entrust them with my bag and then

makes it difficult to recover it,

leading to the theft of the most

valuable object on it (is there a way

quantify the value of those

memories collected?), all the

meanwhile having to tolerate a

service model which went out of its

way to brush aside my concerns.

Did you have a question? Have you filed a claim with the airline?
