Legal Question in Consumer Law in Illinois

Valid Forms Of Identification

I am 21, as are many of my friends. We have been going to a bar near us during the week, quite often and have had no problem...however when we tried to get in tonight (Friday) me and a friend of mine were rejected for invalid forms of ID. This bar only accepts driver's licenses as ID. I don't drive for moral reasons...and because of that I don't have a license. They are saying that if I can't drive, I can't drink!

Are there any legal grounds for their decision to discriminate against me for not driving?

Being a non-driver is not a protected class for purposes of discrimination, so what they are doing is not illegal. As long as they are not discriminating against you because of race, gender, etc., there is not much you can do. I would suggest getting a state issued identification card or passport, and if those aren't sufficient for them to let you in the door, then find a new bar.
