2nd mortgage
i had a 2nd mortgage on my house several years ago. in 2003 the house was foreclosed and sold at auction. the 2nd mortgage received nothing. the last payment was nov 2003. i no longer have the house and recently the 2nd mortgage company is saying that i still owe. is this still possible? the mortgage company trying to collect is in north carolina. but they were not the origional mertgage company.

Yes, the second mortgage company can still try to collect. The only way to get rid of this debt is to file bankrupcy and this is only advisable if the debt is significant and/or you can be sued and your assets attached.
