Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois

Authorized usedr on credit card refuses to pay

I had an authorized user on a credit card and they ran the bill up $8500 and now refuses to pay although I have asked several times and they staed they would. Can I collect this debt another way?

You could sue them. Unfortunately, $5,000 is the maximum amount you can sue someone in small claims. You would either have to sue them for $5,000 in small claims and forget the other $3,500, or sue them in "big" claims, which is more expensive, complicated, and time consuming.
