Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois

I need help bad... I lost my job quite a while ago. I have my credit card company hounding me for payments. I have told them numerous times about me being unemployed. And I have "NO" source of income whatsoever. I don't know what to do, I was threatened by them over the late summer early fall that they were going to get a lawyer after me. I was horrified, how can they just go and sue me...I have nothing. I can't even afford to put a roof over my head. And today I got a letter from there attorney. I am beyond scared, I don't know what I can do. I don't want the amount to skyrocket, nor do I want to get legal action taken against me. I can't afford a $50monthly payment, how can I afford a lawyer for a legal battle!

The person or company you owe the money to is entitled to sue. The fact that you can not pay is not a defense to your liability. If you have nothing , they can get norhing freom you once they have their judgment.
