Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois

Bill Collection again deceased father

My father recently passed away with $30,000.00 in credit card debit. I am on his checking and savings account as Joint tenancy with Rights of Survivorship. The accounts total approx. $15,000.00. Can the credit card companies come back against this money or is it now mine to do with what I want? And should I have his name removed from these accounts?

Re: Bill Collection again deceased father

Your father's estate owes the credit card bills. You need to contact an attorney about opening a probate estate (did your father have a will?) and notify his creditors.
